Godfrey Advanced Psychological Services
For Clients

Psychological evaluation across the lifespan

We provide comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological evaluation for children (ages 6+), adolescents, and adults. Our work starts from a simple conviction: treatment works best when it is aimed at the right diagnosis. And a diagnosis works best when it comes with a path: every evaluation ends with specific recommendations and referrals to trusted professionals in the community, so you move straight from answers into care.

Why Evaluation

Diagnostic clarity comes first

In many cases, treatment fails not because the therapist lacks skill or the client lacks commitment, but because the diagnostic picture was never clear enough to connect the person to the right evidence-based treatment. Anxiety and distress can look like many things, and too often they get funneled into a few broad categories. When vital parts of a diagnosis are missed, treatment ends up chasing targets that never reach the underlying issue.

Our evaluations are designed to identify those underlying diagnoses. Not just that you have anxiety, but which anxiety, because the specific form often points to a different treatment direction than the one you have been pursuing. Many clients find the picture is more complicated than they first realized, and more treatable once it is clear.

Neurodivergence is a core part of that picture. ADHD, autism, and other forms of neurodivergence can generate anxiety and emotion regulation vulnerabilities of their own, and when they go unidentified, treatment misses some of its most important targets. Every evaluation ends with a detailed written report and a feedback session where we walk through the findings and the specific treatment directions they point to, so you and your providers know exactly where to aim next.

And because we focus on evaluation rather than ongoing treatment, our recommendations come with real referrals, not just a report and a search bar. We maintain professional connections across the community, and we point you to established providers matched to what your results call for. That focus also keeps our recommendations independent: we are not evaluating you in order to fill our own treatment calendar.

Evaluation Options

Three levels of evaluation, matched to your question

Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment. For clarifying mood, anxiety, OCD, and personality questions. A thorough clinical interview, a well-validated self-report and personality battery, disorder-specific measures, a written report, and a feedback session. No cognitive testing.

Neuropsychological Evaluation. Everything in the diagnostic assessment, plus formal cognitive testing: intellectual functioning, executive functioning, attention, memory, and validity measures. The right level when ADHD, memory, or cognitive concerns are part of the question.

Neuropsychological + Autism Evaluation. The complete evaluation, adding empirically supported autism assessment (including structured observational measures), autism-specific rating scales, and a structured developmental history. For children (ages 6+), adolescents, and adults seeking a definitive answer on autism alongside the full cognitive and diagnostic picture.

The Process

A clear path, about two weeks start to finish

  1. Diagnostic intake (telehealth, week one). A 60-minute clinical interview where we settle on the evaluation that fits and schedule your testing dates. Learn more about the intake.
  2. Testing day (in person). Cognitive, attention, executive functioning, and memory testing, scheduled the following week.
  3. Autism assessment day (if indicated). Structured, empirically supported autism assessment and a developmental history, scheduled as a second testing day.
  4. Feedback session. We walk through the findings together: what they mean, the diagnostic picture, and the specific treatment directions they point to. You leave with specific referrals to professionals in the community matched to the findings, so care can begin without delay. Your comprehensive written report is completed within one to two weeks of the feedback session.

Most evaluations follow a two-week arc: intake in week one, testing and feedback the following week, with the written report finalized within one to two weeks after feedback. Compare that to waitlists of six months or longer at most assessment clinics. Holidays and your own scheduling availability can extend these timelines.
