Who It Is For

Adults and late-identified autism, as well as children and teens

Many of our autism referrals are adults who have wondered about autism for years: people who have managed, masked, or been given other explanations, and who want a real answer grounded in objective, empirically supported measures rather than an online quiz. We also evaluate children (6+) and adolescents when social, sensory, or developmental questions have gone unanswered.

You do not need a referral, and you do not need to be certain autism is the question. The 60-minute telehealth intake is where we decide together whether autism testing belongs in your evaluation.

What Is Included

Evidence-based assessment inside a full evaluation

Autism assessment here is never a standalone yes-or-no. Your evaluation is built on objective, empirically supported instruments: the ADOS-2 (a structured, standardized observational assessment administered in person), measures of social cognition and pragmatic language, standardized instruments that map fine-grained developmental markers and adaptive functioning through caregiver and self report, and autism-specific rating scales. These sit alongside full cognitive testing of intellectual functioning, executive functioning, attention, and memory, plus a thorough diagnostic interview covering mood, anxiety, and OCD. The exact battery is tailored to your history and referral question.

That design matters because standalone autism assessments that come back negative leave people with the same unanswered questions they walked in with. Here, every result is informative: if it is autism, you get the diagnosis with full supporting evidence; if it is not, the evaluation is built to find what actually explains the difficulties, whether ADHD, anxiety, a cognitive profile, or a combination. Every evaluation ends with a written report, a feedback session, and referrals to trusted providers.

Cost & Timeline

Published pricing, about two weeks

The Neuropsychological + Autism Evaluation is $3,450 for adults and $3,850 for children and adolescents, all-inclusive: the $250 intake credit, all testing sessions, scoring, the comprehensive written report, and a dedicated feedback session. A Good Faith Estimate is provided before services begin.

Most evaluations follow a two-week arc: telehealth intake in week one, in-person testing and feedback the following week, with the written report finalized within one to two weeks after feedback.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does an autism evaluation cost in Utah?

At Godfrey Advanced Psychological Services, a comprehensive autism evaluation is $3,450 for adults and $3,850 for children and adolescents, all-inclusive with published pricing. Costs elsewhere in Utah typically range from $1,500 to $4,000 or more, and many clinics carry waitlists of six months or longer.

Do you evaluate adults for autism?

Yes. Adult and late-identified autism evaluation is a core focus of the practice, including high-masking presentations where earlier explanations never quite fit.

What if the result is not autism?

Because autism assessment is embedded in a full neuropsychological evaluation, a negative result still produces answers: the evaluation is designed to identify what actually explains the social, sensory, attentional, or emotional difficulties that prompted the question, and it ends with specific treatment directions and referrals.

Does insurance cover it?

We are a self-pay practice and do not bill insurance. We provide a detailed superbill that many clients submit for out-of-network reimbursement; see our reimbursement guide for the exact steps. We are unable to serve individuals covered by Medicare, including Medicare Advantage.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed. Every evaluation begins with a 60-minute telehealth diagnostic intake ($250, credited toward your evaluation), where we confirm the right level of testing together.
