Your intake through HMHI-BHN

We are in-network with the Huntsman Mental Health Institute Behavioral Health Network (HMHI-BHN), the behavioral health benefit for University of Utah employees and their covered family members. If you are covered under this plan, this page is for you: your intake and evaluation are billed through your benefit, and the self-pay fees elsewhere on this site do not apply to you.

What Happens

The same intake, billed to your benefit

Your evaluation begins with a 60-minute clinical interview by secure video, where we hear your history, understand what you are trying to answer, and settle together on the level of evaluation that fits, including whether ADHD or autism testing belongs in it. We schedule your testing dates before the call ends, and booking an intake is not a commitment to a full assessment.

The difference for HMHI-BHN members is simply how it is paid: the intake and any evaluation that follows are billed to your plan as in-network services. There is no $175 intake fee, no self-pay charge, and no need for superbills or out-of-network reimbursement.

Copays & Cost

What you pay at each appointment

Your cost is your plan's copay, which is set by your individual plan rather than by us. To find your amount, refer to your plan materials for the "non–University of Utah in-network provider" copay, or call the member services number on your insurance card.

Copays are due at the time of service and are required for each appointment, whether the appointment is face-to-face or by telehealth. Depending on your plan, a deductible or other member cost share may also apply; your plan documents are the authoritative source for your benefits.

Before You Book

A few practical things

  • Note your HMHI-BHN coverage when booking so we bill your benefit; bring your insurance card information to the intake.
  • The intake is by secure video. You will need a private space and a reliable connection.
  • You must be physically located in Utah at the time of telehealth appointments, as required by psychology licensure.
  • For clients under 18, a parent or legal guardian schedules and attends the intake.
  • There are no cancellation fees: cancel or reschedule your intake at no charge.

Not covered by the University of Utah employee plan? See our standard intake page for self-pay information and booking.
